Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, fiends, and dark forces increasing in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look out of place, but the events of episode 3 show why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his own means, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could help the team reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to episode three’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Explorers and Planners groups.
Fans can look forward to discovering which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
